Understanding the Internet Business Value Chain is about understanding the big picture. How is an internet business different from an offline business? How is it similar to an offline business? What works in keyword research, market research, affiliate and service marketing, blog development, search marketing, social media campaign, conversion rates, sales funnels and analytics tracking?

Getting higher conversion rates from marketing campaigns is a continuous challenge. Conversion tuning requires meticulous tracking of what is working and discarding of what is not working. Two of the most important factors for higher conversions are Trust Symbols and Social Proof.

he official Google Blog has a story about using eye tracking tools to create heat maps of 34 usability study participants. The results are astounding and the heat map shows most of the users focused mostly on the top two results on the search engine results page. Google interprets that "This pattern suggests that the order in which Google returned the results was successful; most users found what they were looking for among the first two results and they never needed to go further down the page."

With individuals, corporations and governments beginning to use Social Media for marketing their products and services, the question that is being asked is “What is the ROI and effectiveness of marketing using Social Media?

In this video case study, I talk about a recent Facebook campaign by Capri which is different than placing advertisements. They have actually used the interactive medium to put across a message, reinforce it and get a permission from the user to interact with them again.

In my interaction with the youth, I see despair and uncertainity. I was priviliged enough to be in touch with the web and how it has opened up hoards of opportunities with very little cost factor. I started a "Web Marketing & Analytics" course for graduate students. I see a different group of students in my classes. They do not seem to have despair. They are uncertain but willing to take up a challenge.

I had always supported the call for restoration of free judiciary and had protested against the emergency imposed by General Musharraf. But this time, it was something different. When Mian Nawaz Sharif broke his house arrest, my brother and I were compelled by our conscious to go out, break the stranglehold of section 144 and join the revolution. I saw scenes never before experienced by myself. People poured in from all directions and the authorities seemed to melt away. We walked, chanted and felt a sense of unity that emboldened the heart and strengthened the hope of victory of the people.
